Sustainability & Good Governance
At GDV, sustainability is not a concept — it is a core business strategy.
From lithium-ion battery waste management to refabrication, reuse, and recycling, every stage of our operations is designed to maximise resource efficiency, minimise environmental impact, and ensure full material traceability.
Our approach is founded on transparency, accountability, and alignment with international ESG standards, ensuring that every GDV action contributes to the energy transition and sustainable industrial development
Full Traceability
Every battery, cell, or module entering GDV is registered, monitored, and documented from its origin to its final destination, including:
- Reception and analysis of cells or modules.
- Tracking through Refactory, Reuse, and Recycling processes.
- Recording the recovery of critical materials.
- Documentation of metal sulphate sales or black mass deliveries to third parties.
Through this full traceability, GDV ensures regulatory compliance, transparency for clients and authorities, and total control of the battery value chain.
NetZero & Decarbonisation Objectives
GDV is fully committed to carbon neutrality and circular economy principles, integrating concrete actions throughout every phase of the battery life cycle:
- CO₂ emission reduction through cell recovery and reuse.
- Energy optimisation of industrial and BESS systems.
- Reduction of unnecessary transport via efficient logistics and material clustering.
- Use of renewable energy across all facilities and operations.
NetZero 2030 Goal
GDV aims for full carbon neutrality across all direct and indirect operations by 2035 — through operational efficiency, clean energy adoption, and advanced material recovery.
Responsible Governance
GDV’s governance model is based on responsibility, regulatory compliance, and best practices, ensuring safe and sustainable operations at every level:
Management of hazardous waste in accordance with European battery and waste directives (EPR, WEEE, EU 2023/1542 Regulation and updates).
Handling of strategic critical materials (Ni, Co, Li, Mn) with full traceability, quality control, and responsible industrial delivery.
Strong labour safety and environmental protection protocols, including continuous training and internal audits.
Transparent ESG reporting aligned with GRI standards and international best practices.
GDV Principles of Action
- Complete circularity: every battery has a second or third life before being recycled.
- Full regulatory compliance: all GDV operations are officially licensed and certified.
- Responsible innovation: integrating technology to enhance energy efficiency and material recovery.
- Strategic collaboration: working with OEMs, distributors, consultancies, and public institutions to close the circular economy loop.
Our Contribution to the Circular Economy
GDV ensures that every recovered resource:
- Is reintroduced into the production chain (metal sulphates, BESS modules).
- Reduces the need for virgin mineral extraction.
- Decreases the global environmental footprint.
- Supports the energy transition and industrial decarbonisation.
With GDV, the circular economy is not theory — it is measurable, traceable, and verifiable action.
Concrete Actions & ESG Metrics
- Full traceability of over 10,000 batteries processed annually.
- Approx. 25% CO₂ reduction per second-life cycle through cell reuse.
- Recovery of 300+ tonnes of Ni, Co, and Li every year.
- Certified quality and environmental management:
- ISO 9001:2015,
- ISO 14001: 2015,
- R0404,
- R0402 and
- EPR compliance.
- Next certifications under process:
- EU – CRMA,
- ISO 27001.
Every GDV action is documented and available to clients, authorities, and strategic partners.
