REUSE is GDV’s division dedicated to the recovery and utilisation of revalued cells from recycling and remanufacturing processes — transforming them into second-life Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) designed for industrial, commercial, and residential applications (GDV Home).

Through REUSE, GDV turns recovered cells into high-performance, safe, and sustainable batteries, providing scalable energy storage solutions that optimise energy use, enable seamless renewable integration, and extend the lifecycle of strategic materials.

Introduction

GDV’s industrial and commercial BESS systems are engineered to store energy efficiently, safely, and modularly — adaptable to a wide range of applications, from self-consumption and backup power to grid support, peak shaving, and renewable energy storage.

Modular and Scalable Technology

  • G-ONE — A modular lithium-ion battery with flexible architecture and advanced thermal management, ideal for high-performance stationary applications.
    Capacity range: from 1.5 MWh to 8.7 MWh.
  • R-ONE — Our modular lithium-ion cabinet ranging from 160 kWh to 300 kWh, integrating a high-voltage (HV) box and air-conditioning system.
  • M-ONE — A high-energy-density industrial module designed for integration into large-capacity cabinets or BESS containers.
    Module capacity: 16.6 kWh.

    All GDV products incorporate revalued and fully tested cells, ensuring performance, safety, and full traceability in line with European industrial standards.

GDV’s Energy Management Systems (EMS) enable intelligent control, analysis, and optimisation of energy flow across BESS operations.

  • Real-time monitoring of SoC (State of Charge) and SoH (State of Health).
  • Power control and phase balancing.
  • Advanced self-consumption, peak-shaving, and night-storage strategies.
  • Integrated management with inverters, PCS, and renewable sources.
  • Modbus, CAN, or Ethernet communication with SCADA or third-party systems.

Financing Models for Industrial Battery Systems

Direct Purchase (CAPEX Model
The client acquires the BESS system as a fixed asset through a full upfront investment.

Key Features:

  • The buyer assumes the total cost of the system and its installation.
  • GDV may provide technical assistance, engineering, commissioning, and maintenance under a separate service agreement.
  • Ownership of the asset and all operational benefits (stored energy, grid support, backup capacity, energy arbitrage, etc.) remain with the client.
  • This model can be combined with public grants or incentive programmes (e.g. IDAE subsidies or EU-funded schemes).
  • GDV also offers conditional purchase versions linked to the approval of funding, ensuring a fixed price and mandatory maintenance plan.
Under this model, the client does not purchase the battery; instead, they pay for  the use of GDV’s energy storage service.

  • GDV retains ownership of the BESS system.
  • The client pays a periodic fee (monthly or annual) based on contracted capacity, usage, or performance.
  • GDV is responsible for full maintenance, monitoring, replacement, and warranty coverage.
  • This model eliminates the need for large upfront investments.
  • Typical contract duration ranges from 2 to 10 years, with renewal or end-of-term purchase options.
  • Ideal for industrial or renewable energy clients seeking financial flexibility and operational simplicity.
A model inspired by solar PPAs, adapted to energy storage applications.

Key Features:

  • The client does not purchase the system; instead, they buy the discharged energy or the energy service (e.g. arbitrage, peak reduction, or backup).
  • GDV or a third-party investor finance, installs, and operates the system at the client’s site.
  • Long-term agreements, typically between 10 and 15 years.
  • GDV’s revenues are based on energy delivered (€ / MWh) or shared savings models.
  • Can be integrated with a hybrid solar + storage PPA, maximising self-consumption and peak management.
  • Suitable for large energy consumers or solar park operators seeking long-term energy cost stability.

Refactory provides advanced maintenance and repair solutions for electric vehicle fleets and energy storage systems — designed to maximise uptime, optimise performance, and extend asset life.
